National Women’s Theatre Festival

NIreeksha Women’s Theatre Festivals aim to show case cutting edge theatre productions directed by women.

They offer a unique platform where artistic theatre intersects with applied theatre with professional women theatre artists sharing event space with community theatre activists. Begun in 2020 as online performance during the pandemic, Nireeksha Women’s Theatre Festival has already had two editions as offline events in 2022 and 2023.

NIreeksha Women’s Theatre Festival launched in December 2022 was the first ever event in Thiruvananthapuram where women’s unique, artistic voices found space to express. Besides play performances of plays directed by women, it was also enriched by workshops for women, poetry presentation and music by women. Images of Festivals.

National Women’s Theatre Festival 2023
The second edition held in December 2023 was an event highlighted by its uniqueness and contribution to the social/cultural scene featuring pan-Indian play performances with a women’s perspective directed by women. The three days of the festival was packed with creativity, brain storming, foot stomping, laughter and sharing with creative and joyous coming together of women across class, caste and political affiliation.
